How much does a website cost in the UK? Where pricing goes wrong

Ask a few small business owners about their last website and the same stories come up. Here are the most common ones, and what we do instead.

A big upfront bill, then more to run it

The usual story: UK guides put freelancer builds at £500 to £3,000 upfront and regional agencies at £2,000 to £6,000. Hosting, domain and maintenance are billed on top.

With us: £0 upfront. Nothing is charged until your site is live, and one monthly price from £74 covers the website and the running of it.

You can't get hold of anyone

The usual story: The site goes live, the final invoice is paid, and suddenly emails go unanswered for days.

With us: We reply to every enquiry within one working day, and you deal with the same small team that built your site.

The headline price is not the real price

The usual story: Domain, hosting, SSL, email and stock images get billed on top. One 2026 UK price guide estimates that advertised prices from website builders and some agencies are only 25 to 40 percent of what people end up spending.

With us: Domain, hosting, SSL and security are in your monthly price on every plan, along with a Google Workspace email.

Every small change comes with a bill

The usual story: Two rounds of revisions, then a fee for each extra change. Swap a photo or fix a phone number and the meter starts running.

With us: Content updates are included every month: 30 minutes on Starter, 2 hours on Professional and 5 hours of support on Business.

Locked in for a year or more

The usual story: A 12 or 24-month minimum term, with a hefty exit fee if you want to leave early.

With us: No fixed-term contract on any plan and no exit fee. Give us 30 days' notice if it stops being useful.

Vague promises about SEO

The usual story: “SEO” shows up as a monthly retainer with no list of what you actually get for it.

With us: Every plan names what is included: basic SEO setup and analytics on Starter, on-page SEO and 1 to 2 blog posts a month on Professional, and a custom SEO strategy on Business.

Add it up properly before you sign

Ask any web designer what you pay upfront, what costs extra and what each change costs. Then ask us. Every plan above lists what you get in plain English, so you can compare like for like.

When do I start paying?+

Only once your website is finished and live. We take your card details securely before we start work, but no charge is taken at that stage. Your first monthly payment is collected when the site goes live, then on the same date each month after that.

How much does a website cost in the UK?+

UK guides put a small business website at £500 to £3,000 upfront from a freelancer, or £2,000 to £6,000 from a regional agency, with hosting and maintenance on top. Ours costs £0 upfront. Then our Starter plan is £74/month, Professional is £249/month and Business is £649/month, with domain, hosting, SSL, security and support included on every plan.

What costs extra on top of the monthly price?+

Domain, hosting, SSL and security are already in your monthly price. The one add-on we list is extra pages on the Starter plan, at £50 each. If you're unsure whether something is included, ask us before you sign and we'll tell you in plain English.

Is pay monthly cheaper than paying upfront?+

Not always over many years. A one-off build can work out cheaper in the long run if you're happy to look after hosting, security and updates yourself. Pay monthly suits you if you'd rather not face a big bill upfront and want all of that looked after for you.

Can I cancel my website plan?+

Yes. There's no fixed-term contract on any plan. Give us 30 days' notice and you can cancel, with no exit fee. We built it this way because we're confident you'll want to stay, not because we've made it hard to leave.

Is the price the same everywhere in the UK?+

Yes. Our plans cost the same whether you're in Cardiff, Bristol or Birmingham. Most of the work happens by phone, email and video call, so where you're based doesn't change the price.

Do you have a waiting list?+

Sometimes. Our plans are popular, so there can be a short wait before we start your build. We still reply to every enquiry within one working day and give you a realistic start date.

Can I add extra pages to the Starter plan?+

Yes. The Starter plan includes up to 5 pages. Extra pages are £50 each.

How long does it take to build my website?+

Most projects go live within 7 to 14 days from when you send your content over.

What's included in support?+

Hosting, SSL, backups, security patches and 30 minutes of content and image updates per month on the Starter plan, with more included on Professional and Business. Support comes from our small team in Cardiff, and you'll hear back within one working day.
